Recirculating Water Channel (U of A)
Coanda was contracted by the University of Alberta to design and build a re-circulating water channel. The design incorporates a multi-section channel design with both a feed plenum and an exhaust plenum. Some of the features of this design include large span glass sections that provide complete visual access from the sides as well as from the bottom. The feed plenum and internal components are designed to provide fully developed flow within 2.5m of the channel entrance. The exhaust plenum provides both flowing fluid level adjustment through the use of a weir assembly while also providing flow conditioning to minimize air entrainment.
Channel Specifications:
- Channel Length: 7.5m
- Channel Width: 0.75m
- Channel Height: 0.5m
- Velocity Range: 0 – 0.3m/s (channel full)
- Pump Capacity: 1800 USGPM
